Q: Can I bring my dog?
A: Look for the paw sign on the rental listing. If it is a pet friendly unit if the symbol is there. Naturally, some rules apply. These are the basic ground rules -- some owners may have others, such as parts of the property from which the pet must be excluded. Most of these rules are just plain common sense; some have evolved from lessons learned the hard way.
A: Rates will vary depending on the unit type, location and time of year. Look for the rate symbol and click on it to view the rate schedule. We will confirm these rates to you once we receive your booking inquiry and requested travel dates.
Q: What is the cancellation policy?
A: Should the property owner be unable to confirm or forced to cancel a confirmed booking, we advise you immediately and try to assist you in finding another suitable property. If another suitable property is not available, we immediately refund all money you have paid and all agreements between us for the booking in question become null and void.
Should you be forced to cancel a confirmed booking which begins more than 30 days from the current date, a cancellation fee of $250.00 CAD plus 7% GST is due to Breakaway. If the booking you cancel begins less than 30 days from the current date, you are liable for the full amount of the rent, fees and taxes. If Breakaway is able to find another Guest to assume all or part of your booking, monies paid by you will be refunded on a dollar for dollar recovered basis, less a cancellation fee of $250.00 CAD plus 7% GST.
Please note that some owners have more restrictive cancellation policies. Please read the information on your rental contract pages carefully. We recommend that you consult your homeowner policy or the perks offered by your gold or platinum VISA card to determine whether or not you already have cancellation coverage in place. Failing that, your insurance agent should be able to offer you a policy at competitive prices.
Q: Is bedding supplied?
A: Yes, all linens are supplied by the homeowner.
Q: Are towels supplied?
A: Yes, all hand and bath towels along with face cloths are supplied. Beach towels must be supplied by the guest.
Q: Is a coffee maker supplied?
A: Yes, for the most part, all small appliances are supplied in the properties by the owners.
Q: Is a hair dryer supplied?
A: No. All personal items such as hair dryers and shampoo must be brought by the guest.
Q: Is there parking available/Included?
A: While parking is not included in all of our units, most of our units will have parking available. Check with your Breakaway Representative to find out if the property you are renting has parking.
Q: Are we close to beaches?
A: Most properties on the west coast are close to the beach, but it will depend on the region. Properties on the Gulf Islands and in Vancouver are for the most part, quite close to the beach. At our properties where the beach is not within walking distance, the beach is just a short drive or bus ride away.
Q: Are there restaurants near by?
A: Most of our Vancouver properties are within walking distance or a very short drive or bus ride to a number of popular restaurants. Some of our properties on the Gulf Islands are a bit further away, but there are restaurants in the area.
Q: Can we have a late check-out?
A: No. Our check out policy requires that guests check-out at 10:00 AM in order for us to prepare the property for the next guest.
Q: Can we check-in early?
A: No. Check-in time is 4:00 PM as we require the time to prepare the property for your arrival.
Q: Is there an internet connection?
A: Most of our properties do have an internet connection, but not all of them. Some properties have an internet connection, but it is not wireless. Please check with your Breakaway Representative to find out if your property has an internet connection, and what kind of connection it has.
