Property Details

Cosy Two Bedroom Gulf Island Cottage on Small, Engine-Free Swimming Lake. At 660 square feet, this cosy, well-kept lakefront vacation rental is perfect for a couple or a family with two younger children. You’ll spend most of your time here on the deck, when you’re not in the lake or on it — it’s that kind of place.

Swim out to the float.  Tie on your life vests and circumnavigate the lake in the canoe. If there’s a fisherperson in the family, bring your tackle — you can fish for your supper right off the dock.

When they’re not in the water or playing games on the large lot, the kids will love watching for salamanders and otters, feeding the ducks and keeping tabs on the eagles. Deer wander the property at will, and there always seem to be lots of fawns to admire.

There’s very little outdoor lighting around the lake.  Most nights you can see the moon and stars as they’re never seen in the city. Lie on the deck and watch for shooting stars, planets and satellites. When its orbit is right, you can see the space station. Bring your binoculars for a special treat. Something else you’ll love is the quiet — it’s as close to silent at night as you’re ever likely to find — unless the tree frogs are serenading one another.

Everything in this Pender Island vacation cottage is simple and easy-care, so Mom and Dad can have as much playtime as the kids.  The newly-renovated kitchen, complete with dishwasher, is a pleasure to work in. Chances are, most days you’ll barbeque your supper on the deck and eat around the big picnic table. Actually, chances are you’ll eat most of your meals on the deck — it’s sunny most of the day and the view is hard to resist.

For quiet indoor play there are lots of games and toys for the youngsters. The comfy couch is the perfect place to read a book with Mom or Dad, or cuddle up and talk about your day. As for the grown-ups, they can throw a log in the woodstove after the kids are tucked in their bunks and enjoy a glass of wine before retiring.

Towels and bed linen provided — Please bring your own beach towels. Take out what you bring in, garbage must be taken home. Laundry (sheets and towels) must be done. Facilities are at the cottage.

Easy, unprotected water access — keep an eye on your children.
To ensure correct, safe fit, please bring your own life vests and be sure they’re used.
This property’s water supply is drawn from a limited aquifer

There’s lots to see and do on Pender Island.  Explore one of the twenty-odd public beach accesses scattered around the perimeters of the two islands, go for an afternoon kayak tour, play a round of golf or tennis, try your hand at disc golf (a challenging game played in the woods with Frisbees), visit Canada’s newest National Park, learn about Pender’s history at the new museum at Roesland, admire yachts at our three Marinas, have a meal at one of several eateries, including the fine dining rooms at the new Poets Cove Resort on South Pender. The kids are welcome to enjoy the kindergym at the school.  Shop at the Saturday farmers market at The Hall. Buy fish and shellfish at Hope Bay Dock, Port Washington Dock or Port Browning.  Enjoy a dip in the pool at Port Browning, a brew in their pub or a meal in their cafe. Visit galleries and artisan’s studios, and gourmet coffee shops.  Boredom is not an option.

Pretty well everything you need is at the Driftwood Centre. This is Pender’s “village” where you’ll find a well-stocked supermarket, pharmacy, liquor store, post office, bank, gift and book shops, bakery-cafe, restaurant, gas station and laundromat.

Had a great time on Pender.  The cabin was excellent, exactly what we were looking for.  We let everyone in the club know what a good job you did on our behalf. – Rob S
