Getting There
There are a number of ferries that will get you to Vancouver Island. You can depart from Tsawwassen, just south of Vancouver which takes you to Swartz Bay or Duke Point, or from Horseshoe Bay, north of Vancouver, which will take you to Nanaimo. Maple Bay
Maple Bay is a picturesque little town on the ocean, located near the city of Duncan. There is lots to do at the waters edge including diving, kayaking, fishing, beachcombing and more. Visit the Maple Bay Marina - a hub of activity.
If you are looking for some hiking in the area, check out Maple Mountain Forest Reserve for various trail maps and info.
Before your visit to nearby Duncan, find out what’s going on either on the City of Duncan web site or Visit Cowichan for general information about the surrounding Cowichan Valley.
Nanoose Bay
Nanoose Bay is another quaint seaside town on Vancouver Island where you'll find our vacation rental properties. Nanoose Bay is also conveniently located between the cities of Nanaimo and Parksville.
A popular activity in this area is golfing at the Fairwinds Golf and Country Club, one of the most popular courses on Vancouver Island.
As well, you'll find a number of provincial parks in the area that make excellent day trip or overnight destinations. An excellent destination for kayaking and wilderness camping is Jedediah Island Marine Provincial Park, which is across the Straigt of Georgia between Lasqueti and Texada island.
For something closer to home, try the Qualicum National Wildlife Area, a home for many different local and miratory birds.
If you like hiking, Nanoose Hill offers great views of the area, and mountain biking lovers will enjoy the Hammerfest Race Course located at the Englishman River Falls Provincial Park.
